Annie Redmoggy, the most beautiful elephant seal in all the beach lands, was on her way to the sea shore after having a delicious fish dinner when suddenly, something boggled her mind. A dream? No... a thought? A little bit more than just a thought... hm, how about a wish? Yeah! "That's what it is!" Annie said. "A wish! I wish that I could go to another planet!" What planet, you say? Well, Annie decided that she wanted to go as far away from the sun as possible (she enjoyed the cool breeze rather than the heat outside in the summertime), so she decided on Neptune. She had to figure out how to get to this other planet, though, didn't she? Well, Annie was on her beach right now. How in the world was she supposed to get to the other planet? She decided she could fling herself into space with a palm tree! If she got on the end while something was holding it down, and that something let go really quickly, then she could be slung into space! "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" she said, as she thought about her brilliant plan. But where was she going to get something big enough to hold the other side of the tree? Then, as if he was sent by the gods at the exact moment of that thought, Dusky, the giant sea tortoise, swam up to shore, and said," Hey, Annie! What're you up to now?" Annie smiled the biggest smile she had ever smiled, and said," Dusky, can you do me a huge, ginormous favour?" "Sure, Annie!" exclaimed Dusky. "I need you to hold down this palm tree for me so that I can get on the end, and then I'll say 'GO!' and then you let go and I will get to fly to Neptune!" Annie said. "Now, why in the world would you want to go to Neptune, Annie?" Dusky asked. "Well, I just decided I want to. It gets boring here on this beach. I'd like to do something exciting, for once," Annie answered. "Okay, well, where do you want me, then?" "Right... here..." said Annie. So they got set up, and she was readier than she ever had been to go to Neptune. She was so excited that she was jumping up and down on the tree (and this was irritating to Dusky because he was working really hard on keeping the tree still for Annie). Then, she got real still and said, over her shoulder, "Ready, Dusk?" "Readier than I've ever been, Ann." So then she said, "Go!" And he let go of the tree. But, she found herself in the sand when she looked down. She looked back. There was Dusky. And there was the tree. But the tree didn't look the same as it had before. It was split right in the middle. And in two pieces. She had broken it with her weight, and she didn't get anywhere except right back where she started. She started to cry. "Why are you crying, Annie? It didn't work, that's all. We can try again. You shouldn't give up just because the first try didn't work," Dusky said. Then Annie sniffled and said, "R-r-really? Y-you really think it will work at a-all?" "Of course! I'll even help you out!" Dusky said. So Annie jumped up, clapped her fins together, and said, "Okay!
