Children's Story: by

They brought a baby sister home--
I can't believe my eyes,
she's wrinkly like a Raisinette
and all night long she cries.

She wasn't 'neath the Christmas tree
in pretty wrapping dressed,
she didn't come in Santa's sleigh
or Federal Express.

She lays there in that crib of hers
and coos and wets and sleeps,
the way my parents fuss about
it just gives me the creeps!

I wonder why my mom and dad
would pick out such a toy?
They should've asked me first--that way,
at least she'd be a boy.

A brother would make much more sense--
a boy can catch a ball,
and climb a tree or pick his nose--
a girl's no fun at all!

Her bedroom is an awful sight,
it's pink most everywhere,
no football, rocks or baseball bat,
it's really boring there!

She gurgles and she babbles on,
about what--I don't know,
and all she does is bawl and scream
and burp and puke and grow.

She drools all over everything,
I think she came with spit,
I never will forgive her for
my soggy baseball mitt.

I still can't figure out just why
she came to us that day,
she wasn't on my Christmas list
and now she's here to stay!

Do you suppose if Santa Claus
finds out she wets the bed,
he might let me exchange her for
some rollerblades instead?
